"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln

My next stop after Barcelona was Paris. Supposedly the city of love. My initial reaction when getting off the train was not one of love! The air was smelly and the place was dirty.

The taxi drive to the hotel, which should have taken about 15 minutes, took 35, and when I questioned the driver, he got quite rude; and got worse when I demanded the full amount of change from the money I handed over. It didn’t get better when I got into the hotel, as it looked like the place was being renovated, with bare cement floors and badly painted walls. I shuddered as to what my room would be like. Thankfully the room wasn’t too bad, and comfortable enough.

The view wasn’t great though, but I didn’t intend spending much time indoors so that wasn’t a problem. I discovered later, to my horror, that the walls were literally paper thin; and the other residents very noisy! I was glad I was only going to be there for 2 nights!   Oh well, lesson learned when booking an hotel off the internet – triple check the area and the reviews!
