"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln

I hadn’t seen my friends in Abu Dhabi for just over 3 years and had not met their gorgeous twins, so a visit was most definitely in order! We didn’t do much touring as besides it being a normal working week for them, touring with 2 little ones is not the easiest thing to do, and I was happy to spend time at their home, getting to know the little tykes.

We visited the exhibition and then stopped off for lunch at Al Fanr on

Saadiyat Island; and went for an Iftar dinner at the Shangri-La Hotel.

Iftar is the evening meal with which Muslims break their daily fast

during Ramadan, at the time of evening prayer call. The hotel is directly over the water from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, and I took full advantage to get some night time images.

I spent the hot days indoors, being used as a climbing frame, castle builder, rocking horse and supplier of extra hugs and kisses by 2 very energetic youngsters; but I had a thoroughly enjoyable time. It was good to meet them.

Then it was time to pack and go again, heading to Qatar for some R&R with my daughter and her family, before heading back to the UK and work.

Interesting piece of art, at Al Fanr, made entirely from knives.
