Playtime indoors one a rainy day – a fancy glass window inside the house made for an interesting ‘fire & ice’ type image’ with the afternoon light shining through the curtains on the other side of the room!

A few days before my assignment ended, I was given an extended break again and being as how the weather was good, decided that any road was good for walking, and walk I did!

One evening the sky lit up with the most magnificent

sunset – the mountain literally looked like it was on

fire! When client saw the skies, she informed me

“There’ll be some snow soon!”

My luck, I thought, I was due to leave in a few days.

Oh well, she did also say it hasn’t snowed heavily here for many years, so even a light dusting would make me happy. I gotta be careful what I wish for!

Road signs in the village warn drivers to watch out for red squirrels which can still be seen on the forested slopes.

As there was nothing much more of interest along the main road, I turned off and headed towards the slopes of Skiddaw. The views were out of this world! I managed to get half way up when I realized the skies were looking decidedly ominous, so turned around and headed back to the house.

Walking along the main road I found a lovely entrance way with gate, but leading to nowhere. No one seemed to know who had built it or when, it had always just been there!

Looking back from the main road to the hamlet I was working at, Skiddaw towering above.

One response to “I owe, I owe, its off to a new area I go #4 – I love to go a’wandering…”
