"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln

Slangkop Lighthouse is located in Kommetjie, about 30km’s south of Cape Town, and was built in 1919, initially having been fabricated in England. Standing 33m high, the structure is the tallest lighthouse in the southern hemisphere and warns ships of a point of high land jutting out into the sea.

With nothing promising in the way of a stunning sunset, I turned my attention the the sun behind the waves, and had fun watching my daughters’ dog fishing for seaweed and battling a rather large piece over the rocks.

We reflected on a fab day out as we headed back home for sundowners and dinner.
