"In the end, it's not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years." - Abraham Lincoln

On one of our drives through the reserve we turned a bend in the road and came face to face with a puff adder basking in the sun. We reversed back a bit so I could get out of the car to get photos; and in the process drove over another snake which had come out from the grass behind the car. We both felt terrible as we watched the front part of the body squirming off into the grass on the side of the road as the back part wriggled on the hot tar.

All in all, a fantastic break, and we both came back feeling totally relaxed and refreshed. I had a few days until I headed off to the Pilansberg with my kids, and Paul had to go back to work.
