My last day in Qatar was spent exploring the Waqif souq in Doha, a place I have visited before & enjoyed going to again.

A maze of passages and corridors, the first time visitor could easily get disorientated & lost! I love the exotic aromas of spices and cooking food that waft through the market; the continual chatter of buyers and sellers debating & haggling; the squawking of the many wild birds for sale and the ever

present sound of life – adults going about their daily chores, children running about, enjoying the open air and life in general.

Open air horse stalls, camels lounging about in the sun, falcons sitting patiently on wooden racks, eyes covered,

being inspected by potential buyers – if you want it, you will more than likely find it at the local souq.

As my last day of holiday in the land of sand drew to a close, I relished the warm, sun soaked air knowing I was heading to wet & cold – it has been a fantastic week, and I know I will be back!
